Production Manager – MDF Manufacturing (Woodbridge, ON)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Production Manager to join a leading manufacturing organization located in Woodbridge, Ontario. This is a fully on-site role, and candidates should ideally reside within a 30-minute commuting distance.
This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant production, including safety leadership, supervision of hourly and supervisory teams, production planning, quality, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager will play a key role in driving operational excellence and building a high-performing production team.

Role Purpose
The Production Manager will lead overall production operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing. This includes responsibility for production scheduling, raw material usage, yield optimization, quality performance, and on-time delivery. The role also plays a key part in driving Lean and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
· Lead and promote a strong safety culture focused on zero incidents
· Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
· Track safety metrics and implement corrective actions as required
Production & Operational Leadership
· Oversee daily production activities across all shifts
· Develop and manage production schedules to meet demand and forecasts
· Optimize labour, materials, and equipment utilization
· Improve throughput, efficiency, and overall plant performance
Continuous Improvement (Lean)
· Lead Lean initiatives (5S, Kaizen, SMED, etc.)
· Identify and eliminate waste, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies
· Support TPM/PM programs and operational improvements
· Track and report cost savings from improvement initiatives
Quality & Customer Focus
· Ensure consistent product quality and compliance with specifications
· Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
· Support on-time, in-full delivery performance
· Collaborate with internal teams to meet customer expectations
Leadership & Team Development
· Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and hourly teams
· Drive accountability through performance management systems
· Support training, development, and succession planning
· Foster engagement, teamwork, and strong communication
Financial & Business Performance
· Support budgeting for labour, materials, and operating costs
· Drive cost reduction and margin improvement initiatives
· Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions
· Contribute to annual planning and forecasting
Collaboration
· Work closely with maintenance, supply chain, engineering, and leadership teams
· Support supplier performance and raw material optimization
· Participate in cross-functional operational improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience
· Post-secondary education in Engineering, Manufacturing, Wood Science, or related field (asset)
· 5+ years’ experience in a Production Manager or Manufacturing Superintendent role (or 10+ years in senior production supervisory leadership roles)
· Experience in a manufacturing environment (wood products preferred)
· Strong background in Lean and continuous improvement implementation
· Six Sigma / Lean / Theory of Constraints certification considered an asset
· Proven ability to improve safety, quality, and financial performance
· Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
